Linda Tool & Die Co. is a factory that makes small metal parts. They are improving Red Hook's environment with their green roof project. This project will benefit the environment by reducing the amount of combined sewage overflow going into Erie Basin and by making our community a greener place. The green roof will also reduce Linda Tool's heating and cooling costs and serve as a weather station for Columbia University. Construction began in June 2009 and received support from Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez and the Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation. There are now 12,500 square feet of garden atop a Red Hook factory, right in our backyard. Another way that Linda Tool & Die Co helps the environment is to produce new trash cans for Van Brunt St. to encourage people to keep the community clean.
