Opened in 1999 as part of the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park, the Infilco Degremont Inc., North American Research & Development Center is a two-story, 13,500 square-foot office and research facility. Here, scientists develop innovative, water and wastewater treatment technologies, such as thermal oxidation. Considered the only final and sustainable sludge disposal method, thermal oxidation is highly efficient, odor free, and can generate useful heat for the production of process steam or electricity. Through research, the Center is helping to promote safe and environmentally friendly green technologies.
