Opened in 2008, the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Engineering East Hall is a 115,000 square-foot expansion green building that is currently pursuing LEED-Silver certification from the US Green Building Council. Incorporating sustainable features such as advanced water and waste recycling, sustainable building materials, energy efficiency and conservation technologies, and appropriate sitting on the site to maximize passive solar energy, this site exemplifies VCU's commitment to green building and sustainability. In addition to providing classroom and lectures spaces, the building houses advanced research laboratories and the da Vinci Center for Innovation in Product Design and Development.
