Avazi
개요
The HaTikva neighborhood is the rough and tumble, poor working class district that was founded by Mizrahi Jews who fled their native lands in the early 1900’s. The food in the area echoed the residents’ needs for cheap protein laden dishes that would push them through the grueling days of Israel's formative years. Today shipudim restaurants line HaTikva's main thoroughfare. The grill restaurants offer various meat skewers (chicken hearts and liver are a local favorite) served along side pita, hummus and a multitude of Israeli salads. Though many of the restaurants offer a genuine taste of the neighborhood, Avazi is one of the better eateries to sample the beloved blue-collar fare. Service is brusque, but that's part of the authentic appeal. 54 HaEtzel Street. Tel Aviv; 972 (3) 687 9918; Sun- Thurs 11 AM- 12 AM, Sat end of Shabbat-12AM; $$ CC accepted
