History:
Márcio Franco was born in Lagoa Santa, Minas Gerais and fascinated about nature in a integrated coexistence with the man. He moved to Paraty 23 years ago. Some artists are inspired by others and, in Márcio’s case, he was inspired by Margaret Mee, who explored and drew beautiful pictures of Brasilian bromelias. Her art features the tropical flora identifying, classifying and cataloging the botanical species.
Sustainable features:
Márcio Franco’s works shows the forms and the colors of the Atlantic forest’s native species. His works represent bromélias, banana trees, gravatás, helicônias, coconuts, orchids, toucans, parrots and macaws that live in this forest. His works are the result of research in this Atlantic forest’s zone, through trails in the forest, waterfalls, shoreline where the virgin wood interweave with the ocean. It is a pictorial record of the native species.
