The Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club was founded in 1953 to foster and further the sport of boating, to sponsor sailing instructions, and to promote the social interests and pleasures of its members. Sailing competition began in 1955 with the formation of two fleets, Star class and Comet class boats. Due to the success of the Club’s sailing programs and the ideal racing conditions on Sandy Hook Bay, the AHYC became the host club of several U.S. Olympic Finals for both the Star Class and the Flying Dutchman Class. Recently the Club has hosted the J/24’s Blue Water Regatta as well as the numerous North American and District Championships.

The Club is located on Sandy Hook Bay in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, within easy reach of the Atlantic Ocean and New York Harbor. From the main club room there is a spectacular view overlooking Sandy Hook Bay with New York City on the horizon. The harbor has extensive facilities: fuel docks, pumpout stations, travel lifts and a launching ramp. Also, the Club maintains a 2 ton dry sail hoist, with 24 hour access. Within walking distance from the Club there are marine supplies and repair shops, a sailmaker, hardware stores, pharmacies, two theaters, numerous restaurants, movies, banks and supermarkets. The Historic Twin Lights Lighthouse and Museum is accessible with local transportation.
