The City of Mentor has joined with GreenField Steam and Electric on a groundbreaking advanced energy project that will culminate in the installation of 10 solar generators that will produce both electricity and heat for the Mentor Senior Center.

A unique high temperature photovoltaic is placed at the focal point of a parabolic mirror array where the concentrated light energy is converted to electricity. A cooling system is required due to the intense heat and the energy from this can also be used to heat water or provide space heating

This was only the second prototype installation done, the first is in operation at NASA Glenn.
