Shalu Elementary School was the historically oldest school in Shalu. It was established in 1906. Initially there were no classrooms, so the school rented Tiangong temple for it. In June of the same year, a new school was constructed, and children from all areas in Shalu came here to study. Before the year of 1945, there were nine Japanese-presidents in charge of the school during the Japanese colony. Following the rapid development of Taichung Seaport, it caused the increases of population. One school couldn’t accommodate the population, so a lot of school branches were established.
The earliest established school is Beishi and Gongguan Elementary Schools.
Now there are 7 schools. Besides, Shalu junior high school is separated from Shalu elementary school. The campus of Shalu junior high school is seperated from Shalu elementary school in the beginning. Two schools are adjacent to each other.
