Climate LEAP
Overview
Since 2009, we have conducted the Climate Leadership and Energy Awareness Program (Climate LEAP), a student science enrichment program designed to engage high school students in interdisciplinary, hands-on and minds-on science and mathematics activities and in the development of science communication and leadership skills. The program, developed in conjunction with the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center (MPSC) and with support from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund has to date engaged 168 rising 9th-12th grade students from Durham and Orange counties. Climate LEAP is conducted in partnership with the Alliance for Climate Education and the UNC Department of Physics and Astronomy.
