- The Holiday Cocktail Lounge (1965-2012, now shut down) was a classic dive bar opened by former Ukrainian soccer player Stefan Lutak, who fought in the Battle of Stalingrad.
- It has had a range of visitors including W. H. Auden, Allen Ginsberg, Shelley Winters, Madonna, and Frank Sinatra, whose agent lived in the neighborhood.
- Allegedly the inspiration for Madonna’s song “Holiday”
