Kelp dynamically grows from the dark depth to the light at the surface.
The kelp plants support one another – working together – braving the elements and the huge waves of the mighty sea.
The kelp forest provides shelter for a thriving community.
A massive wave, tugs one free and it is cast upon the rocks.
There the hot African sun transforms it – speaking through its shape – morphing it into a creature or bizarre singer – a vibrant instrument.
A KELP vuvu is born
Loud and Proud and Full of Life.

KELP was started in 2008 after Kelp horns were sold successfully at a fete at Michael Oak school, Claremont to raise school funds.

Adam has developed the idea further and set up a small factory at his home in Zeekoevlei employing Wahabi and Christopher. Adam is overseeing and driving the project and is helped by his brother Michael with the running of things.

The ambition is to develop and grow the project into a profitable venture which will provide opportunities for employment, social upliftment and environmental education.

Techniques of pattern and design have been chosen to suit entry level and skilled painters. Beginners can get started immediately with simple design work and those with more experience can step into a more demanding role.

The horns provide a good means of promoting environmental awareness and the City of Cape Town Youth Environment School (YES Project) have helped support training and setting up of the factory.
