Stuyvesant Polyclinic
このサイトについて
Started in 1883 on Blackwell's Island, today known as the Roosevelt Island, the Poliklinik moved to the current location in 1884. The clinic and the Ottendorfer Library, adjacent to each other, were dedicated by Mr. Ottendorfer to "uplifting both the body and mind of fellow Germans in the United States." The Stuyvesant Clinic provided free medical care to German immigrants around the area and also trained medical students to be professionals, who could provided medical services to the German community.
After years of inappropriate proposals and poor maintenance, this landmark building has been restored and is fully occupied again. Although the building no longer plays its role as one of Frau Ottendorfer's charitable concerns, it is finally restored to its former glory.
