The truck traffic in Red Hook is problematic; it causes carbon emission which pollutes the air and leads to health risks such as asthma and cancer. There are high asthma and cancer rates in Red Hook as a result of the heavy truck traffic. A lot of the truck traffic is illegal as well. Truckers go off route and enter Red Hook even though they are not supposed to. There is not much being done to stop this currently. We think police should give the truckers tickets or use other harsher penalties to stop this serious problem.
